Infinite Galaxy Puzzle

Nervous System

$120.00

Have you ever done a puzzle that has no beginning or end? Where you don't know up from down? Get lost in space within the Infinite Galaxy Puzzle!

The Infinity Puzzle ™ is a new type of jigsaw that tiles continuously. It has no fixed shape, no starting point, no edges, and can be assembled in thousands of different ways. Topologically, the Infinite Galaxy Puzzle 2 maps to a real projective plane, an impossible 3D-shape where the inside and outside are mathematically indistinguishable. What this means is that it tiles with a flip! Pieces from the one side attach to the other but only after flipping over. Just like a Mobius strip has only one surface, the puzzle has no up or down side.

This extra-challenging puzzle is adorned with a photograph of Westerlund 2 from the Hubble telescope. The image is continuous from one side of the surface to the other, so you can't see the entire photo at once. Explore the galaxy while assembling the puzzle in multiple ways.

  • Maze cut style with three whimsy pieces: an astronaut, space shuttle, and the International Space Station

About Nervous System

Since 2011, Nervous System has been crafting plywood puzzles that combine the artistry of classic jigsaws with the possibilities of new technology. They use custom software inspired by natural patterns to grow the intertwining shapes of the puzzle pieces. The organic forms are cut from plywood by a laser, resulting in a uniquely challenging puzzle crafted from premium materials. Each puzzle is made by hand at their solar-powered studio in the Catskill Mountains.
